I always get super excited when it comes to discovering new makeup products because I love knowing that I could have potentially discovered a new product that will change my makeup game. If I hear anyone raving about a product, I have to try it. I want to try it just so I can see what it is like for myself but also just so I can say I have tried it. You know? if you are a makeup addict like me, then you will know that if a product is popular, you want to get in on the product too.
Over the last couple of weeks, not only have I treated myself to one to many makeup products, but I have also received some of this over the christmas period. I have been so lucky that I happen to love all of the new makeup I received, so I wanted to give you a little review of the items.
Oh and also, I have decided that for my blog in 2019 I am going to be reviewing a lot more makeup products. I have ALOT of makeup, but I feel like I have started to slack in the beauty department on my blog. Just where I haven’t really reviewed makeup in so long. I am going to do better! (note to self*)
I actually received these for Christmas and I was ecstatic to see these. I did not expect them what so ever. I really needed some new brushes, especially eye brushes. You can never really go wrong with new brushes and who doesn’t want to add more brushes to their collection? These brushes are from Morphe and I was so interested to see how they performed because I have heard a lot of different opinions on them. I have been watching Jaclyn Hill for years on youtube and I know she loves using Morphe brushes, she raves about them all the time. Some of her favourite eye brushes I believe are actually in this set. These brushes are very good quality and I think really worth the money. They are super easy to hold and I find they blend all of the product really well. They clean very easy which I think is good because they are white. I find that they really pick up a lot of eyeshadow which makes me happy. I think these brushes would be perfect for anyone who loves makeup and wants to invest in some new brushes. These brushes also came in a Morphe faux leather bag which is super cute because I am definitely going to keep all of my eye brushes in the bag. Super super happy with these!
Wet and Wild Photo Focus Foundation
I have been using this foundation for a while now and although I did mention it in my Youtube video I wanted to mention it again in this post. OKAYYYY this foundation is
(Yes I really did need to emphasise that word)
It is so so good! I used to always used my Rimmel 24 hour wear foundation or my Urban Decay one, but NOPE will I ever again go back to wearing the Rimmel one. The Urban Decay foundation is also incredible! I just won’t go back to using any other foundation now, this is literally my holy grail foundation. This foundation gives bloody amazing coverage, it is medium to full coverage and you can layer up if you want to and it doesn’t go cakey. It does dry a little faster than normal, but it blends really well. One thing I really love about this foundation is that you apply it with a little spatula. I think this is so mess free and so much easier to use as I hate when you have to pump it out. I also find that I use less foundation because im not pumping too much out and having to use it, I can literally scoop out how much I will need.
Bourjois Velvet Lipstick’s
I have tried Bourjois Velvet Edition Lipsticks before so when I got these I was super happy. If you are the sort of person that doesn’t really like liquid lipsticks, then this will probably be for you. They are super pigmented and have such a unique whipped velvet formula. They look like how a liquid lipstick would look like, but they have a velvet finish. It applies amazingly well, literally like butter! I have never known a lip product to literally glide on my lips before. They are so long lasting and after while they will start to matte down. The handle of the lipsticks is very short which I love because it gives you more precision when applying. I feel so confident when I wear these because they are so comfortable to apply, I think it has actually made me better at applying lipstick.
Both of these shades are stunning. The shade Happy Nude Year is more of a light pink lipstick, it reminds me of Mac Pink Plaid a lot. it is definitely more of a pinky barbie colour. The shade Beau Brun is such a gorgeous muted pink colour that really is unique to anything I have seen before.
Mac Smarty Pants Eyeshadow Palette
First of all I love the packaging of this product, it has that American text book print all over it which is so eye-catching and goes with their theme of everything school related.
I love the colour selection inside, it is definitely a unique palette. There are three matte shades which are the soft cream colour, the coral colour and the brown colour. Then on the right of the palette there is a massive gold highlighter which I think is amazing. If you take this palette on the go, you have a full eye look, a highlighter shade and a mirror. You have 4 metallic shades, the burgundy one, the light pink one, the dark gold one and a sliver one. Then you have one chunky glitter shade that is pink but has brown reflects in. With this palette you can create such a mixture of looks whether that be for the day or for evening. When I get a palette I do tend to try to get one that has more matte’s to metallic’s, but in an eye look I will use around three – four mattes and one metallics shade. However, I’m not mad at it because it will encourage me to use more metallics. One thing I noticed started straight away is that they don’t have a waste of a shade in here. You know in some palettes you always gets that one shade that you aren’t ever going to use?, in this palette you don’t. I would genuinely use every single one of these shades! Also, there are probably five shades in here that I don’t currently have in my collection, so that’s good!
I feel like this palette is different from all of the other Mac palettes. There is definitely more pigmentation then some of their other palettes I have used. The metallic’s are blinding, and have such an amazing colour pay off. The matte’s are also very pigmented! The matte shades blend amazingly well, by itself or with other shades. One thing I will say is that when working with the metallics I would 100% recommend using fix plus and a brush and packing it onto your lid. I went in with my fingers after I had layed concealer down and the shades didn’t even transfer onto my lid at all. For maximum pigmentation, definitely use fix plus and a brush.
Gucci Bloom Perfume
I wanted this perfume for so so long because not only does it smell delightful, but the packaging is also stunning and something I will probably keep forever. As some of you may know, I am dreadful at describing scents, but the best way for me to explain this perfume is to say that it smells like jasmine. It has such a floral scent that isn’t too sweet but balanced out well. I think this could be quite an acquired scent that some people may not like, but I love it. It has such a gorgeous scent that I am actually obsessed, AND I can smell it on myself which is a good thing about perfumes. I hate it when you spray perfume and you literally can’t smell it on yourself.
Bourjois Metal Edition Eyeshadow
I never really tend to reach for eyeshadow sticks, however, after I tried this I will definitely be using them a lot more. This metal gold eyeshadow is stunning and will last for a good 8 hours. This is such a good product to use if you are someone who is on the go and doesn’t really have time for makeup in the morning. It dries down super quick which is always a bonus. It is really pigmented and will literally go with any makeup look. The gold isn’t a chunky glittery gold, it is more of a metal gold which I find some interesting and different. I love that if you used a small angled brush that you could use this for eyeliner too. Once again, the handles are the same as the lipsticks so you can be very precise with your look. I like using this all over my lid and on the inner corner of my eye near my lower lash line, this really opens up my eyes and brings out the blue. Such a good little product that is definitely a good product to have in your makeup bag.
Laura Mercier Loose Powder
I have wanted this loose powder for so long now and when I opened it at christmas I was beyond excited. I heard so many other beauty bloggers raving about this product, so of course I needed to try it out of myself. I 100% what they were talking about and it really is amazing. This is hands down the best loose powder that I have ever tried and I don’t think I could ever go back to using a drugstore loose powder. The powder is really fine and really does set all of your makeup all day. I love using this under my eyes after I have put my concealer on, it literally sets my concealer and it doesn’t move all day. I haven’t found that there is any flash back with this powder, which is good because who wants those white under eyes? The powder isn’t too big, but quite a cute size so it would be easy to put in side your makeup bag or take with you if you are travelling.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
I LOVE this bronzer so much. A little bit goes a long way so you only need a tiny amount on your brush and it will go really far. I do find that it blends really well, only if you blend it for a good amount of time. It is quite a dark orange colour so you will have to blend it a lot to ensure that it doesn’t look cakey. I like using this with my contour brush because I found that using a big fluffy brush made it look really patchy, so definitely recommend more of a dense brush. It has a little mirror inside, which is ALWAYS handy! it comes with a little square brush that I will literally not use because it won’t do anything for me. It is a lovely warm toned bronzer that is actually going to be so gorgeous in the summer. The bronzer lasts for a good amount of time throughout the day and it doesn’t really have a smell to it. I just find that I really love the way my skin looks when I wear this bronzer, my base just looks really flawless and just seamless. The packaging is very bulky and square, it definitely has big packaging for a bronzer. You lift the lid up and the bronzer is sat in the packaging, one thing I will say that is annoying is that I have actually dug the bronzer a couple of times due to the lid going into it. This is annoying but you just have to watch when you close it so the corner doesn’t dig into your bronzer. This with a gold highlighter will make your life!
Benefit Gimme Brow
I have been wanting to try this product for such a long time because there is such hype around the benefit brow products. It is amazing and I can honestly see what the hype is about. Even though it is just a brow gel, it is tinted so it is actually brown which actually makes such a difference. Once you run it through your brows it clings onto every hair, making your brows seem much fuller. I will run this straight through my brows if im not wearing makeup because it just adds more definition and makes my brows look fuller. I love love love how small the handle is and how small the little bristle bit on the end is because you can really get precise with the hairs that you want to get product on. You can really focus on specific hairs and I honestly believe this has changed my brow game. I dont think I could use another eye brow gel product, the is honestly incredible. One thing I will say is, the actual gel itself is such a small size. Other brow gels that I have used are really big in comparison to this. However, in saying that there is a lot of product inside and I always find myself scrapping across the edges when the brush comes out.
Oh and also, happy 2019!
Do you have any of these products, I would love to know?
